Gumball Helmets with Actual Gumballs

I mainly got these helmets from vending machines when I was a kid, but I am aware they also glued little plastic pencil sharpeners in them and sold them in dime stores, and that IHOP had promotions involving them.

I wasn't aware until now that they were actually sold in packages with gumballs:
